About Us

About Us

We publish practical, low-cost guides to seasonal flower arranging and home decorating, written for people who have never taken a floristry class. Every guide is written from hands-on experience — including the attempts that didn’t work — and priced against what things actually cost at ordinary US grocery and craft stores.

Who writes here

Our articles are written by Samantha, who has been gardening and arranging her own cut flowers for more than ten years and has built more than 30 centerpieces from grocery-store bunches, yard clippings and dollar-store supplies. She is not a certified florist, a veterinarian or a horticulturist, and we say so wherever a topic touches on plant safety or pet health. Prices quoted in our articles are what she actually paid at US grocery and craft stores; nothing is sponsored and no brand pays for a mention.

How we work

  • We buy our own materials and publish the prices we actually paid.
  • We document failures as well as successes, because the mistakes are where the useful information is.
  • We cite outside authorities — the ASPCA, the NFPA and botanical institutions — rather than asserting safety claims ourselves.
  • No brand pays for a mention, and no product recommendation on this site is sponsored.
